Deliveroo has unveiled a £16 million “thank you” fund for drivers, but union leaders have slammed the move as a “public relations stunt.”
Deliveroo is distributing the fund to a quarter of its drivers, with the top earners receiving a £10,000 bonus.
Deliveroo announced today that payments of£10,000, £1,000, £500 and £200 will be made to all riders who have worked with the company for at least one year and completed 2,000 orders.
The programme will cover the 12 countries where the company’s courier services work.
The fund, however, has been criticised by Deliveroo’s riders’ union, with chief of the IWGB Alex Marshall saying: “This is just another PR stunt by Deliveroo to try and divert attention from a workforce that has been exploited since the company’s inception.”
