A serving Met Police officer charged with the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard has appeared in court yesterday for his first hearing.
Wayne Couzens, 48, was arrested at his home in Deal, Kent, on Tuesday after Ms Everard’s body was found in Ashford, Kent.
Westminster Magistrates Court heard that the suspect allegedly kidnapped the victim in the Poynders Road area of Clapham.
Judge Paul Gold-Spring said, “I don’t have the power to consider the question of bail. That will be considered should you wish to make an application to the court on 16 March.”
Couzens was remanded in custody to appear again at the Old Bailey on March 16.
