Residents told to evacuate as major fire BREAKS OUT at warehouse in Manchester

A major fire broke out in a warehouse in Denton, Manchester, on Sunday afternoon, prompting residents to evacuate from their homes.

About 125 firefighters were called in to put out the large flames, which allegedly started inside the warehouse complex before spreading to nearby units.

Area manager Stewart Forshaw who is leading the investigation said, “The incident is causing a large smoke plume that is affecting the local community and can be seen across the county. I would ask those who are affected by the smoke to keep their doors and windows closed and to avoid the area.”

Roads were closed and people were urged to avoid the area.

Superintendent Natalie Dixon of Greater Manchester Police said, “We are urging all those in the local area to keep their doors and windows closed to ensure they are better protected from any smoke inhalation.”
